- The Stretch code defines building codes to minimize energy use in homes, apartments and commercial buildings
- The town of Boxborough adopted the Stretch Code in 2020 and voted to become a Green Community in 2023.
- Boxborough is one of over 300 communities in MA to adopt the Stretch Code
- As a Green community, Boxborough just received its first Mass-DOER grant to implement energy conservation initiatives at the Blanchard School.
- SPECIALIZED STRETCH CODE
- The specialized code is an extension of the Stretch code and focuses on accelerated adoption of green house gas emissions from buildings
- Applies primarily to new construction homes, multi-family dwellings, commercial and public facilities
